CITY OF ZUMBROTA

COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

FEBRUARY 5, 2015

6:00 P.M.

TOWN HALL

 

Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, Mayor Rich Bauer called the Zumbrota City Council to order at 6:00 p.m.  PRESENT:  Mayor Rich Bauer; Council members Dale Hinderaker, Brad Drenckhahn, Sara Durhman and Tina Hostager. Others present: City Administrator Neil Jensen,   City Attorney Matt Rockne, Public Works Director Mike Olson, Police Chief Pat Callahan, Community Development Director Dan King, Library Director James Hill, Sandy Hadler, Brian Haugen, Officer Ryan Bollig, John Breene (DFA), and NewsRecord reporter Tawny Michaels.  

 

The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

AMENDMENTS/ADOPTION OF AGENDA

Motion Hostager, second Drenckhahn to adopt the agenda.  Approved 5-0-0.

 

MINUTES

Motion Hinderaker, second Drenckhahn, to approve the regular City Council meeting minutes of January 22, 2015.  Approved 4-0-1 (Durhman abstaining).

 

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE

Motion Durhman, second Hostager to approve the accounts payable of $48,781.53.

Approved 5-0-0.

 

PUBLIC COMMENT

 

PUBLIC HEARINGS/MEETINGS

 

Unfinished Business:

7-A.  DFA Permit Amendment

A possible ownership change is in the works.  Once a new owner takes over the permit will have to be reissued.

 

7-B.  Comprehensive Plan Update

The Council reviewed the list of people who will be asked to be on the steering committee for the Comprehensive and Strategic Plan Update. The list is as follows:

Staff was directed to post meeting notices so the Council could attend the meetings if they desire to do so.  Motion Drenckhahn, second Durhman to approve the list of representative for the Comprehensive and Strategic Plan Update and to set the meeting for February 26th at 6 p.m.  Approved 5-0-0.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

8-A.  Brock White Crack Sealing Quote

Public Works Director Olson requested the Council approve funds to continue the maintenance and repair work on Jefferson Drive.  Motion Hinderaker, second Durhman to approve the quote of $15,175.00 from Brock White for crack sealing on Jefferson Drive.        Approved 5-0-0.

 

8-B.  Close out 435th Street Project Fund

City Accountant Kim Simonson requested approval to transfer the remaining money in the 435th Street Project back to the Municipal Reserve Fund.  Motion Drenckhahn, second Hostager to approve the closeout of the 435th Street Project Fund.  Approved 5-0-0.

 

  1. Reports

City Administrator Neil Jensen

Reported ZM Schools approved the hiring of a Student Resource Officer for the 2015-2016 school year.  That officer will need to be contracted from the Zumbrota Police Department by the ZM School District.

 

Public Works Director Mike Olson

Informed the Council the 2nd clarifier at the WWTP has been installed and will be up and running next week.  Staff is also working the WWTP pump bypass.

 

Library Director James Hill

Reported the Zumbrota Reads Project has begun and this year the Zumbrota Library is collaborating with the Pine Island Library.
