The Zumbrota Community Trust, a Minnesota non-profit corporation, is a group of volunteers committed to supporting the social, educational and benevolent needs of the Zumbrota area through the encouragement of charitable giving. The trust annually takes applications for grants and awards funds to qualifying groups or individuals engaged in charitable activities. Founded in 2004 as a successor to the Zumbrota Community Foundation, the Trust maintains IRS Sec. 501c (3) status so that all gifts to the Trust are tax deductible under the law.
Among the Trust’s special projects is Stabilize Families, a program for assistance to local citizens lacking funds to pay for such things as prescriptions, fuel, mental health care, and children’s dental care. Another special project is the Covered Bridge Task Force, whose purpose is the preservation, promotion and protection of Zumbrota’s historic Covered Bridge. The Trust assists with other local requests as they occur, including areas such as arts and entertainment, environment, history, education, and recreation.
