Sod placed last year has went through its maintenance period and is now the homeowners responsibility. Tips to care for new sod are posted below (see links.)
10-23-2023 Construction update for Jefferson Drive in Zumbrota, MN
Upcoming schedule:
Blacktop Pavement is scheduled for Monday October 23rd. Blacktop pavement will be completed from Highway 58 to 1st Street.
The 5th Street intersection will be closed for a few days when preparing for and placing blacktop pavement. Traffic will be detoured to 4th Street during this time.
Users of the 1st Street should expect delays during the paving operation.
Flaggers will be present during paving operation to direct traffic. Please follow their direction.
Roadway & crosswalk markings will be applied after blacktop is completed.
Disturbed areas north of Mill Street will be seeded and sodded.
Portions of Jefferson Drive are still closed to give the contractor room to complete the work. Please follow traffic control signage. Current Traffic Pattern shown below:

Dubuque Boulevard to Marie Lane will receive the final lift of blacktop. Roadway & crosswalk markings will be applied after blacktop is completed.

Upcoming schedule:
Blacktop Pavement is scheduled to start September 28th. Phase 1 & 2 will receive the final lift of blacktop pavement. Phases 3 & 4 will receive all 3 layers of blacktop pavement. Phases 5 & 6 will receive the first two layers of blacktop pavement on areas that have concrete curb & gutter.

Notes on Blacktop Pavement:
- Blacktop Pavement is scheduled for the week of September 25th.
- Blacktop pavement can be driven on minutes after placed and will be cool enough to walk or bike on the next day.
- Flaggers and traffic control devices will be present during paving operation. Please follow their direction.
- Temporary delays to local traffic may occur, especially when paving intersections.
- Emergency Vehicles will have access to the streets at all times.
- The paving operation will likely take place between 6:30 AM and 7:30 PM

-Pavement removal from Lincoln Avenue to the Private Drive on Monday 9-18. This section of roadway will be closed. -Install storm sewer at the 6th Street Intersection.
-Install watermain and storm sewer at the Lincoln Avenue Intersection.
Work in Phase 6 (1st Street to 5th Street)
-Finish concrete driveway aprons and sidewalk. Install Watermain on the south side of the 1st Street intersection
-Pavement removal and reconstruct the 1st Street Intersection starting Monday 9-18. (intersection will remain passable)

-Residents on Mill Street will lose access for a period of time when utilities are being installed in the intersection. A temporary access will be provided once this work is completed.

-Roadway and path preparation for blacktop pavement. Roadway will be opened to the west as shown below starting Friday 6-16
-Topsoil Replacement and preparation for Sod/Seed.
-This section is scheduled for blacktop paving the week of June 26th. During paving operation flaggers will direct traffic. Blacktop pavement can be driven on hours after placed and will be cool enough to walk or bike on the next day.

- Road construction will begin near Kwik Trip and work its way east.
- Concrete pavement will be removed from 18th Avenue to just west of Dubuque Avenue. See Phase 1. During this work the local traffic patter will be as shown below. A temporary gravel road will be constructed from Kailey Lane to the west. Local Traffic Control will block off the road closure.

- Zumbrota Mobile Home Park residents should place garbage and recycling containers out to the street in front of their homes on garbage day By 7:30 A.M. Any containers not pushed out to the road will not be collected and emptied.

- Dust Control Spray has been ordered and will be applied on 190th Avenue in the near future.
- Zumbrota Mobile Home Park residents should place garbage and recycling containers out to the street in front of their homes on garbage day. Any containers not pushed out to the road will not be collected and emptied.
- To ensure the trash and recycling containers are returned to the proper location the contractor will mark them with your trailer number with permanent marker on duct tape and stick it to the top of the container.
- Localized traffic control will change as construction progresses. Barricades, signs, or cones will block off the active construction area and your travel pattern may need to change based on the construction. For your safety and the safety of construction personal please follow the signage.

- The existing concrete roadway will be broken up and removed from Kwik Trip to Dubuque Boulevard.
- Road construction will begin near Kwik Trip and work its way east.
- Storm Sewer installation will begin near Kwik Trip and work its way east.
- Topsoil will be stripped, salvaged, and hauled away for storage.

The City of Zumbrota will be reconstructing Jefferson Drive from Dubuque Blvd. to West 1st Street in the summer of 2023. The current 20 foot wide concrete road will be removed and be replaced with a 33 foot wide blacktop road with concrete curb and gutter on both sides. The shared use path that currently runs from Main Street to West 1st Street will also be reconstructed and extended to Dubuque Blvd. This project will affect trees, landscaping, and driveway aprons along the corridor.
